If typing “dispensaries near me” into Google is your first step in finding weed, you may want to consider changing your approach. New laws have made choosing the closest dispensary obsolete in Massachusetts, thanks to expanded cannabis delivery.
Today, you have more options than ever before, especially in Massachusetts, where recent changes to cannabis delivery laws have made it easier to order licensed cannabis products without leaving home.
Before placing your next order, here are a few important things to consider when searching for a dispensary near you.
Searching for ‘Dispensaries Near Me’ in Massachusetts
Massachusetts is home to hundreds of licensed cannabis retailers serving both recreational and medical consumers. While some communities have multiple storefront dispensaries, others have none at all, making cannabis delivery an increasingly popular option.
When searching online, you’ll likely find both brick-and-mortar dispensaries and delivery services. While visiting a dispensary can be a fun experience, delivery offers a convenient alternative that allows you to browse products at your own pace and have your order brought directly to your door.
Regardless of how you shop, it’s important to purchase from a licensed Massachusetts cannabis retailer to ensure every product has been tested for safety, potency, and quality.
Cannabis Delivery in Massachusetts
Cannabis delivery has become much more accessible thanks to recent changes in Massachusetts law.
When recreational cannabis was first legalized, each municipality had the option to decide whether retail cannabis dispensaries would be allowed within its borders. Many communities voted against allowing dispensaries.
Later, when cannabis delivery was approved, delivery operators were also prohibited from serving these “ban towns,” even though residents were legally allowed to purchase cannabis elsewhere.
That changed on April 19, when Governor Maura Healey signed legislation updating several Massachusetts cannabis laws. Under the new rules, licensed cannabis delivery companies may now serve municipalities that previously prohibited dispensaries unless that municipality submits a waiver to the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) requesting that cannabis deliveries remain prohibited.
For many Massachusetts residents, these legislative changes mean more convenient access to licensed cannabis products than ever before.
Newly Deliverable Towns for Cannabis Delivery
As a result of the updated law, licensed cannabis delivery services can now deliver to many communities that were previously unavailable.
Some of these newly deliverable towns include:
- Wrentham
- Raynham
- Easton
- Norfolk
- Assonet
- Freetown
- East Bridgewater
- West Bridgewater
For residents in these communities, cannabis delivery eliminates the need to travel to neighboring towns just to visit a dispensary. Visit our delivery area page for more information.
What to Look for When Searching “Dispensaries Near Me?”
Not every dispensary offers the same products, service, or shopping experience. Before placing an order, consider the following factors.
Licensed by Massachusetts
Always purchase from a licensed cannabis retailer. Licensed dispensaries are required to follow strict state regulations, including product testing, labeling requirements, and quality standards.
Buying from licensed businesses gives you confidence that you’re receiving safe, accurately labeled cannabis products.
Delivery Availability
If convenience is important, check whether the dispensary offers delivery to your address.
Many consumers are surprised to learn that cannabis delivery is now available in more Massachusetts communities than ever before, thanks to recent changes in state law.
Product Selection
A great dispensary should carry products for every type of consumer.
Look for retailers offering:
- Flower
- Pre-rolls
- Vape cartridges
- Edibles
- Concentrates
- Beverages
- CBD products
- Topicals
A larger menu gives you more choices whether you’re a first-time consumer or experienced cannabis enthusiast.
Third-Party Lab Testing
Licensed Massachusetts cannabis products undergo comprehensive laboratory testing.
Lab testing verifies potency, contaminants, pesticides, and heavy metals. Reputable dispensaries are transparent about the products they sell and work with trusted cultivators and manufacturers.
Customer Reviews
Don’t forget to look at what other customers are saying before visiting a dispo or placing a cannabis dispensary delivery in Massachusetts.
Look for discourse about:
- Friendly customer service
- Product quality
- Delivery speed
- Order accuracy
- Easy online ordering
Consistently positive reviews are often a good sign that a dispensary values its customers.
Daily Deals and Promotions
Due to restrictive policies on social media, cannabis dispensaries have challenges getting the word out. Deals are how most cannabis dispensaries advertise.
Popular dispensary deals include:
- First-time customer discounts
- Bundle deals
- Holiday promotions
- Loyalty rewards
- Vendor specials
Don’t forget to check out your retailer of choice’s website to find current promotions before heading to the ‘dispensary near me.’
Easy Online Ordering
The best dispensary websites make shopping simple.
Look for:
- Clear product descriptions
- Potency information
- Customer reviews
- Real-time inventory
- Secure online ordering
An easy-to-use website helps you find exactly what you’re looking for before placing your order.
Fast Delivery Windows
Nobody enjoys waiting all day for a delivery.
Many cannabis delivery services now offer convenient delivery windows so you know when to expect your order.
Some retailers even provide order tracking and text message updates.
Knowledgeable Customer Service
Whether you’re shopping for better sleep, relaxation, creativity, or pain relief, having knowledgeable staff available can make a big difference.
Experienced budtenders can answer questions about cannabinoids, terpene profiles, dosing, and product recommendations to help you choose products that fit your goals.
New Massachusetts Policy Improves Cannabis Access
The recent changes to Massachusetts cannabis delivery laws represent an important step toward expanding legal cannabis access throughout the Commonwealth.
Residents of towns without dispensaries now have more opportunities to purchase regulated cannabis products from licensed delivery operators instead of traveling long distances. Expanded delivery also gives consumers greater choice by allowing them to shop from a wider selection of retailers and products.
For many Massachusetts communities, these changes mean greater convenience while continuing to support a safe, regulated cannabis marketplace.
